rhapsody 07
The Argyll Rhapsody 07 project enabled 92 young Argyll musicians to come together in a creative and collaborative environment, initially for workshops, then to perform a new and unique piece of music.
Argyll Rhapsody was written and directed by Argyll musician Donald Shaw.
In addition to the music, up to 200 young artists contributed to a photographic exhibition which augmented the ‘concert experience’. The still images reflected and illustrated what Argyll meant to these young people.
This was a first time experience for Argyll’s audiences, communities and young people, and a unique opportunity to bring together young people from 10 secondary schools including Tiree, Islay, Rothesay, Tobermory, Hermitage, Dunoon, Lochgilphead, Oban, Campbeltown and Tarbert.
The Rhapsody was brought together by the Creative Arts in Schools Team (CAST) and was part of the Highland Year of Culture 2007 within Argyll and Bute.
