about rhapsody
Homecoming Rhapsody is the culmination of a creative project for young people that is inspired by the unique heritage, landscape and language of Argyll.
Organised by CAST (Creative Arts in Schools Team) the Rhapsody performances involve over 200 senior Argyll and Bute pupils, brought together in a collaborative environment to participate in a high quality celebration of creativity.
The first Argyll Rhapsody was created as part of the Highland Year of Culture in October 2007, as an expression of pride, by our young people, in their culture. Homecoming Rhapsody 2009 is a further development of this work reflecting the Argyll and Bute heritage from a young person’s perspective.
CAST consists of a creative links officer/QIO, music services manager and cultural co-ordinator who create and manage cultural projects within Argyll & Bute schools. Our remit is to provide access to high quality events & learning opportunities which relate to the existing curriculum and enhance the learning experience through the arts and heritage. We also provide advice and communicate information about the arts to our schools. We cover all disciplines and ages 3-18 and work in partnership with national bodies, arts providers and other local companies.
